Commercial television has been with us since the 1940s, and Cleveland has a long and rich history with the medium. When it first signed on in 1947, WEWS was just the fifth station in the U.S. and the first in Ohio. Since that time, many memorable broadcasts and personalities have originated from Northeast Ohio. This course looks at the exciting and very influential history of broadcasting in Cleveland with an emphasis on the earliest days through the 1970s.
