« back to classes page
Superman burst onto the pop culture landscape with his debut in Action Comics #1 (1938) and he’s been thrilling readers ever since. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two teenagers from Cleveland, the “Man of Steel” established a new genre of costumed superheroes as numerous publishers created their own characters to capitalize on Superman’s success. This presentation will explore the evolution of Superman from a brash, head-bashing protector who intimidated his foes into submission to a national icon who stands for “Truth, Justice, and the American Way.”
