Human trafficking isn’t often at the forefront of the news, but it is an incredibly serious issue – one that could be happening in your community, often hidden in plain sight. First responders, such as law enforcement, paramedics, and medical professionals, play a crucial role in identifying and assisting victims of trafficking. Lara Wilken, assistant clinical professor and coordinator of the RN-BSN program at Bowling Green State University, discusses her work in building awareness of human trafficking, as well as the vital collaboration with first responders to detect and combat this pervasive crime.
