« back to classes page

Description

This is a hands-on, high-intensity safety and survival course designed to overcome obstacles by focusing on the individual firefighter and the firefighter beside them. Students will learn how to use their own gear and intuition instead of gimmicks or special gadgets. This course will help students feel more comfortable and confident in their gear, increase situational awareness and ultimately create instinctual skills to help save themselves or a fellow firefighter.

Instructors will emphasize a “rescue begins from within” concept, with a coordinated response from the exterior if possible. Day One will focus on individual knowledge of personal SCBA, radio, and gear. Day Two begins the one on one rescue your partner phase. Day Three moves into two rescuer tactics and attacking the structure for rescue. Day Four culminates in review, coverage of “classic RIT” development and deployment, and scenarios. As firefighters, we owe it to ourselves, our families, and the men and women we work with to be as safe and ready as possible to help everyone go home.

The instructors bring knowledge, experience, and passion for the job, coupled with and driven by the latest statistics and techniques, to provide students with a well-rounded toolbox to deal with “the most terrible of days”.
