In Classroom At BGSU: October 6-9 Saturday - Tuesday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Optional Test Date at BGSU: Wednesday, October 10 at 9:00 am
Students will be in the classroom 4 days and online for the remainder of the class. You will learn the principles of adult learning, communication, instructional methods, lesson plan development, assessment, NFPA 1403 Awareness, and all other components of the ODPS Instructor Course core curriculum.
**A separate NFPA 1403 course will be added at a later date for certified instructors who will teach live fire evolutions.
Candidates must hold a valid certificate to practice as a firefighter issued under section 4765.55 of the Ohio Revised Code; in the preceding seven years, have at least five years of experience as a certified firefighter; pass (80%) the written Firefighter Knowledge examination approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety/Division of EMS Executive Director (OAC 4765-21-02). Firefighter II exam results (80% or better and taken within the past 12 months) may substitute for the fire knowledge exam.

You must purchase and bring the IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Instructor (8th edition - 2012). Publisher: Fire Protection Publications.
Self-study guide is optional, but recommended.
